Tong Manipulator TKHM-X3
Tong Manipulator TKHM-X3
Remote handling equipment for radioactive and other hazardous materials in nuclear applications
Tong manipulators are used in facilities such as nuclear power research institutes and nuclear fuel offices.
They are especially used as handling equipment for the hot cells installed in nuclear fuel reprocessing plants and waste analysis facilities.
For handling equipment, generally a master-slave type for handling large-scale radioactive substances and a tong manipulator for handling small-scale radioactive substances are installed in parallel or in individually.
The TKHM-X3 model designed and manufactured by our company is handling device with new functionality added at the request of our customers.
It has one-touch functionality added that allows you to set the degree of fingertip opening, and to continue or release the fingertips' grip, with a single touch.

Characteristic
- 1/ The structure consists of the fingertips, airtight mechanism portion, and a shaft portion, and it can be mounted and demounted with a single touch with an attaching/detaching jig.
- 2/ With the addition of a new mechanism to the conventional tong manipulator, the fingertips' opening degree can be set with one touch, making it easy to change and set the fingertips' degree of opening as needed.
- 3/ By adding a new mechanism to the conventional tong manipulator, when a sample is tripped in the fingertips, grip force can be automatically sustained, reducing the labor needed for operation.
- 4/ The gas proof mechanism portion has a completely airtight holding structure.
Main applications
- Remote handling of radioactive materials at nuclear facilities and reprocessing plants
- Remote handling of samples and hazardous materials in hot cells and gloveboxes
- Remote operations at research and analytical facilities handling radioactive materials and hazardous chemicals
